Siargao is good year-round. The drier, sunnier window is roughly March to October; the biggest surf swells at Cloud 9 usually run August to November. Expect some rain any month — it's a tropical island.
Most travellers fly into Sayak Airport (IAO) in Del Carmen via Cebu or Manila, then take a van or motorbike to General Luna (about 45 minutes). You can also ferry from Surigao City to Dapa, then drive across.
Cloud 9 is the famous reef break for experienced surfers. Beginners usually learn at Jacking Horse and nearby beach breaks with a local surf school and a soft-top. Always go with a guide and check conditions first.
Island wifi can be patchy. Marajaw Cafe in General Luna runs on Starlink for fast, reliable internet — a good base for remote work between surfs.
Favourites include the Cloud 9 area in General Luna, Pacifico in the north, the island-hopping trio of Naked, Daku and Guyam, and the Magpupungko rock pools at low tide near Pilar.
